About

Welcome To Thoroughbred News

Thoroughbred News was put together because we wanted a voice, we are the trainers jockeys and owners of thoroughbred horses.  It was necessary to voice the real opinions of real people in this industry.  To many so called experts have brought to much bad press to the people and animals that bring joy to the thousands, we understand that no one is perfect that being said everyone has an opinion and what we would like to do is bring you informative information on numerous subjects including solo interviews from within.  We will try to give you as much information as possible when it comes to personal lives as well as professional lives.  This is about as much you as it is us, we will do spotlights on certain individuals from within the sport and how they got involved, who they look up to and why they entered the sport of kings.  This is a journey from the past and the present, we will focus on all thoroughbred tracks and the people that run them.  Hopefully you get some interesting and refreshing ideas from some of the best in the industry, we will not sugarcoat anything here like others will do.  Hopefully only the facts will keep you coming back for more.  It's about the fans and how we can help to grow an industry that is having trouble with growth especially in young people.  If we can point you in the right direction and give you good sound advice we've done what we hoped.  The equine industry has suffered long enough, we will voice our opinions on how to better regulate the industry with new rules, how states are ruining the business for many and we will point that out to you so you can write our federal government to give them ideas on how to better this industry.  Doing what's right for the horses and when their career ends what really happens to them.  We will tell you where the horses really go, and some of this information will amaze you.  How you can help us with our campaigns and bring light to enduring situations that no one hears about.  Why simulcasting is helping but also hurting the gambler, what information you should be getting in the form and why many professional handicappers are leading you in the wrong direction and it's on purpose.  We did a study on 10 different handicappers from the east coast, for 1 week of racing which includes 9 races a day-many pick 4 horses a race where in many instances there are only 8 in the field namely New York.  We only took the top 2 picks they gave and they had a less then 5% winning percentage for the week.  That's some of the worst handicapping we've seen in a long time, but the viewers love listening to them why we will never know.  The only thing we can think of is that they are told to point you in the wrong direction.  Either way it's bad for the sport because to many people are losing, if your listening to so called experts and they give you the wrong answer consistently wouldn't you think they would be out of a job?  Not in New York, and this is just a piece of the puzzle why NYRA consistently loses money.  The management is pathetic and needs to be overhauled.

Rights

Animal rights should be a hot topic but it always gets pushed to the back burner.  Once a race horse is fully retired where do they end up?  There should be legislation enacted to protect these beautiful animals when they cannot perform any longer.  They should not be sold to dogfood companies, or killers-they should be able to live a full life with a handler that cares about them.  Our mission is to get the federal government to execute a law that states when a horse is unable to race any longer they cannot be sold for meat or be killed, it will not be left for an owner to make that decision-it will already made when they hit the track for the first time.  If a horse is not seen for 45 days the owner and trainer must be held accountable and be fined if they cannot account for their whereabouts.  If the horse cannot be found both will incur a major fine or penalty and be suspended for a length of time NOT decided by the state or track but by a rule or regulation that prohibits this from ever happening again.  We are the people in this industry, we are the ones that want fairness and the legacy of the animal and trainer to be remembered forever.  We want the jockeys to be fined for unethical riding, and to be fined accordingly.  There should be incentives to jockeys to better riders, but to do just these steps takes an huge undertaking by you.  We need you to write your legislators and senators and let's make one body that controls racing in all the states.  One governing body that oversees the industry and has an oversight board they have to report to, the states have degraded this industry long enough.  It needs to be overhauled, the people running the show now are not capable of making ethical decisions.  Their friends have horses and their relatives have horses, they know people running in the race, we can't have that anymore.

Example

No more inquiries from other riders or trainers-there should be 2 judges that look at the race from start to finish and be able to see when a rider is wreckless.  They in turn will make the inquiry and make the ruling so the race can be made official, no more objections by trainers or jockeys.  They will be fined and suspended on the first offense.  There will be a 4 minute time limit after the race is over so they have time to review the race, then it will be made official.  No more public handicapping before the race, it's not needed trust me.  These people are getting paid top dollar to be wrong 90% of the time if that was me or you in a job you would be fired within a week.  There are many more rules and regulations in which we think should be included but that's for another day and we hope you share this with friends.

This is about keeping the industry strong and ethical for all parties involved.
Thank You
